Old Men's Eyebrows

... do you cut your eyebrows?...

I've got a problem which I believe to be rather seldom: My eyelashes get in conflict with my eyebrows.

Rather strange subjects are discussed by the webmasters on WebmasterWorld. We have talked about shaving or not shaving beards and how it is to be done if it is. And we have talked about nose hair. Now I feel it's time to discuss the cutting of bushy eyebrows.

Like all members of my family I have always had long eyelashes and over the years my eyebrows have grown somewhat bushy. These two facts have made it necessary for me to cut my eyebrows regularly.

I would like to ask those male members who have grown beyond their first youth and well into the second (or third): Do you cut your eyebrows?

Shaving and nasal hair trimming are one thing, but eyelashes are quite another.

My barber always suggests this to me. I don't have any mechanical conflicts between lashes and brows, but I finally let him do the trim - and I like the results.

I have 3 or 4 strange eyebrow hairs that tend to get upwards of 1 and 1/2 inches long. They get clipped as soon as I notice them.

Always, always get the brows/ears trimmed during a haircut. The most annoying thing is when that brow hair gets unruly and then you have constant sight of it. That's when you know they are too long! You know, when you think there is something obscuring your view and you find out it's a brow hair.

Have your barber or stylist trim the uni too!

P.S. Ever notice that the really unruly ones are of a different fiber than the rest? Almost like a you know what.

P.S.S. I've never seen anyone with eyelash issues. Do they too get out of hand? I remember once when I lost mine due to freezing weather and touching when I wasn't supposed to. It took forever and a day for them to grow back!

Also, this topic does not just apply to old men whatever that age that may be!

Not sure which youth I'm into right now as am still making the same mistakes, but yes, an eyebrow trim every now and then is a must. Most barbers do it without asking.

For reaching a certain age a while back my better half included one of these all-purpose trimmers for the places you never knew you would have to trim when you were a tyke. I expected it to be fairly compact but the dang thing looks more like a Saturn V rocket -- complete with navigational lights! I'm supposed to stick that thing up my nose!?!

The accessory trimmers do make dealing with the eyebrow and occassional ear-tufts (No, you don't think of them when you're 21) a breeze.

I had one of those unruley eyebrows just today and while kissing my girlfriend she stopped and tried to pluck it out. Needless to say we didnt kiss for awhile after that. It hurts to be pulled out. I think it happens to all ages though, I was about 16 when I started shaving the unibrow and probably 20 when I start takin care of the unruley eyebrows. It defenitly needs to be cut!

I have the same problem as ScottM.

One of my extra-long eyebrow hairs tends to grow in a tight curl, and it isn't noticeble until it gets long enough to curl back and poke me in the eye.

I was checking Santa out this weekend with my almost 3 year old daughter. He needs a serious trim! You've crossed the line when brow, nostril and facial hair have joined in harmony.

I prefer to comb the old eyebrows up over the unexplainable and growing bald spot just above my forehead. This has the added benefit of keeping the forehead warmer while shoveling the winter snow.

A cautionary tale:
When I was younger, my girlfriend and I met an older guy with HUGE bushy eyebrows. The GF couldnt stop going on about how distinguished he looked, what fabulous eyebrows etc etc. You can guess the outcome, a few weeks later I was girlfriendless and old bushybrows had a big smile on his face.
So, now I am older with big bushy eyebrows, I never trim them.

Personally, I don't care for the Hobbit look. Mr. Idiotgirl happens to be a big, hairy Italian fellow and we (the misses and kid) insist he is sent to the groomer's (okay, the barber) on a regular basis lest he looks like a homeless person i.e. Brutus from the Popeye comic strip.

IMHO it's not pretty, attractive, sexy, or masculine to have the caterpillar brows, a five o'clock shadow, and hair growing out your Honey's ears (especially if your honey is a female... scary thought)

Pro Brow-Whacker, here. Wax, cut, shave, or pluck - just kill 'em.

P.S. If and when the back hair grows past your collar, it could use a good mowing, too...

The eyebrows and ears get an occasional trim, but only when I happen to be wearing my glasses while looking in the mirror... Without the specs, I'm gorgeous! :)

Jon, let me have a guess: You are young. Your eyebrows are not bushy (yet). And you have long eyelashes.

Tweezers, small round-tipped scissors, and a reliable razor. Takes care of every stray hair eventuality I can think of, for men and women.

(If there's any that can't be taken care of with those three, it's probably not something I want to think of, so don't feel obligated to enlighten me.)
