Dell laptop markings.

What the hell is a strike zone?

ok, I've had this laptop for about 2 years now.

For some reason I was actually reading the various markings on the bottom, and noticed at one point:

STRIKE ZONE

I have absolutely no clue what this is and I'm strangely frustrated by it. Anybody know?

Should I be worried that this appears to be under the hard drive?

I think that it's the area where you're supposed to strike the laptop when you're very frustrated with it. :)

Strike zone.

That's where I would punch this thing.

I have a Toshiba. It's a different beast but I think the formula still applies. Where do you hit it to inflict maximum damage. That's the strike zone.

Sounds like where to hit it with a big hammer so that the data on the hard drive is non-recoverable, something that a company would do (but often is overlooked) when disposing of old machines...

A Google search offered up "Dell's Strike Zone TM hard drive protection system". Although I prefer the explanations listed above. :)
