(This article pretty much sums up why I read and post on WW. This site seldom is visited by any of these types. And when I, personally, have slipped into the extreme, the mods have done their job. Tip of the hat to the mods and managers of WW. Quality message boards just don't happen, as this column explains.)

In recent research over the last few months, I've been visiting a lot of local newspaper web sites, both large and small, and have been awed by the large amount of poor thinking and uncontrolled emotions that get posted for public consumption.

This column by Michael S. Malone pretty much sums up what I have found. It's funny. And also worrisome.

He starts with "The Troll" and end with "The Martian."

I especially liked this one: The Alien -- This is a poster from another country who has no context for what every commenter is talking about, and so asserts his or her own cultural solution: "Why this complain about wife? Sell gotes and buy more wifes!"

WillyB beat me to it, Flame Warriors is by far more original and hilarious. :-)

We should really be able to link to Flame Warriors, it's really the most amusing one out there! IMO, it is the "poster stereotyping" authority.
