Contemplating a Playstation2 for our teenager, any views on the best games in those categories?

... just purchased Unreal Tournament 2003. Great reviews; however it looks like I'm going to have to seriously upgrade my PC in order to be able to play it :(

I have ps2 and xbox, and since xbox live came out I haven't touched the ps2 once. I think it's going on ebay next week.

Glad to hear that jatar_K as that's the one we chose! Games prices here are horendous, I take it there's no compatability problems with games bought from the US?

Almost everyone who has played the top three soccer games for the PS2 will tell you that 'Pro Evolution Soccer' is the best. It has a steep learning curve so you will have to practise a lot when your teenager is at school.
'Timesplitters 2' is a great shooter with a vast variety of weapons ranging from Tommy Gun to flame thrower. But be prepared to learn how to decapitate waves of zombies using your bare fist as well!
