Ok, I'm ready to tell you my secret... I see dead peo... no wait, that's not it.

Ok I'm ready - I love html emails!

You see for the last 9 years I have hand coded pure css based, error free, W3C loving pages that are perfect across a multitude of browsers. I spend ages making sure everything is exactly as required. But you see in my job I have a new role... to make html emails and to do these I have to create dirty, nasty, error-ridden, horrific jumbles of tables and mess.... AND I LOVE IT!

I sat here today wondering if I should even bother with the head tags... OMG I just DON’T EVER DO THAT....EVER!

I feel like some comic villain chuckling over a soup-bed of font tags and font-sizes as I create new schemes to rule the World.

O was really hoping you saw dead people, but as it was you're secret was definitely dirtier...perhaps you should have kept that under your hat :)

I have only ever made up one HTML email and I felt so guilty. :)

The things I've done with dead people probably shouldn't be repeated. But last week I helped someone set up an animated gif to be sent with their outbound mail. I feel so dirty...

I had a contract position for a while last year which involved creating and testing html emails.

I only felt dirty until I collected the check :).

So . . . What's wrong with HTML emails? As long as there's alternate content . . . and it's not bloated up with graphics and font tags . . . . anyway . . .

Dirty Dark Secret?

You sure?

I am rocknbil, rock and roll is my life. My cohorts would be floored to know that I think . . . .

Ok, I admit it, I looted all the Werther's from the candy jar at work...

And sometimes, when faced with spending a day or so getting a cross-browser compatible CSS file working just for a single page, or making a table ridden, W3C hostile, POS, in 20 minutes that I know without even testing will render fine cross browser... I'll still spend the day on the CSS, because I bill by the hour.
