At age 74 he's touring the North America [leonardcohen.com]. I saw his last tour fifteen years ago but now that I'm older his songs have taken on more meaning. Maybe that's the thing about his songs. Anyway, I'm looking forward to his concert and if you know of him thought you might appreciate the heads-up about the tour.

Do appreciate the look out. I've been a pro musician for going on 45 years. (There's other things to do in life besides web work...).

When I was at uni, he was in with the great poets like Donne and Shakespeare in the Norton Anthology of Poetry text everyone used...pretty amazing wordsmith..."everybody knows" don't they? well if not, go out and listen to a song or two, because you will be listening to something really special...a not to be missed experience, I say!
I take my hat off to you guys Martinbuster and Tangor...what really brings inspiration/people together may be such things...the web work seems pretty bland in comparison...so thanks for creating this space!

I'm guessing his main audience resides elsewhere than the Southeast USA.

I love Everybody Knows. I never got into the rest of his songs, but I'll have to give the CD another listen.

Songs of Love and Hate, plus New Skin for an Old Ceremony are good albums, as is the first album. You can get a compilation but they leave out many wonderful songs like Diamonds in the Mine, Lady Midnight and Avalanche (which was covered pretty well by Nick Cave).

Dang. I am really behind the curve these days. Tickets went on sale this morning for the show. By the time I clicked through, the only tickets left were $550 *apiece*.

I was going to take my Dad with me, who has had some hard times lately and loves Leonard Cohen. And honestly, $550 apiece is probably worth it, but not right now.

Grumble.

Its funny, he is playing arenas here in Canada, yet only in theaters in the States.

I realize he is Canadian but never thought he had a huge following up here. Always figured his fan base was the artsy crowds in the larger urban centers on the east and west coast of the States.

I am not a fan but I do recognize his genius songwriting abilities. If you got tickets, enjoy the show.

Eek. I should have searched for presale tickets. Only nosebleed seats row V left in the balcony. Hopefully they'll have more tix available on March 2nd when the box office officially opens.

If anyone's in to cover compilations, Tower of Song has some great stuff on it.

Of particular note is Peter Gabriel's version of Suzanne

I found tix at the Paramount in Oakland near the back for $190 each. Looks like I'll miss Mr. Cohen again this time around......
