I have this wide screen monitor (love it!). Some of that real estate runs a video window... movies downloaded, tv shows from broadcast websites, etc. since I don't cable TV because of dollars.
Two questions:
1. Do you have noise running in the background while you work... video/audio?
2. What era?
I confess to flicks from 1930-60 and music from 1935-1968.

Not at work but at home, where I do my own "work" I have a regular TV on my left that runs most of the time. It is powered by my Series 1 TiVO, which many of us in Australia imported privately and modified to work with our PAL system (it is a Linux OS). We maintain our own EPG, which is keyed in by volunteers. This makes the device an extension of my geekiness, rather than another appliance.
