Samsung said Monday that "select" models of its HDTVs will be powered by the Yahoo Widget engine, which Samsung will brand as the "Internet@TV - Content Service". The new televisions will be on display at CES this week, connected either via a direct Ethernet cable or a USB Wi-Fi dongle.The TVs will be available in the U.S, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland.
The widgets themselves will be supplied by Flickr, Yahoo News, Yahoo Weather and Yahoo Finance, USA Today, YouTube, eBay and Showtime Networks, among others, Samsung and Yahoo said.
And, is this a big deal? Blu-ray has a new interactive component called BD Livethat is said to allows consumer whose TV are connected to the Web to interact and integrate additional material into their viewing experience.

There are problems brewing here.
1. Blu-ray may be usurped by Internet download of videos/movies.
2. Internet bandwidth issues will continue to come to the fore.
