OK, so can we please get another color for that smile? the wink ;) looks more like a smile :) to me than the :) smile.
Anyone else feel the same?

There should be a santa for x-mas.

On a more serious note I actually like the way that there is only a handful of emoticons here at WebmasterWorld. Too many can leave pages littered with all sorts of smileys, ultimately detracting from the forum and, IMHO, taking from the weight of the content and message and cheapening the page.

Looks too sad just now... :(

and what is defintelly needed is possibilty to CLICK on style codes. for example i dont quote most of posts since it is jsut totlaly waste of time to write those [quote] etc(not to mention thatwhen i press ALT GR and G it transefers my cursor into google toolbar url field!). one of the slovenian forums i participate has the best solution: you write text, select it with mouse and just click QUOTE button and the text is automatically quoted(that is code is added at start/end of text).
I have noticed that people sometimes make a second post in the same thread just because they wanted to make clear that the first post was not taken the wrong way. That is one example of where more elaborate smilies could be used to better emphasize the intentions in a post.
Since i haven't heard of smilies making this distinction before I'm going to suggest an extension of the smiley alphabet. What about the following:
I smile = :-)
You smile = U-)
I frown = :-(
You frown = U-(
We smile = U:-)
We frown = U:-(
Icons anyone?
Currently, there are no plans to create new or modify existing smilies.
Not sure whether I will continue to post here under those circumstances. ;) U;-) ;)
Or I really need to invest some time in expanding my little proxy server which currently only changes Aaron to Nick.
All of you who want more smileys could run it locally. It would translate all the smiley codes we could think of into graphics before pages are displayed in your browser.
Those who do not use it will only see lots of :-)U-):-(U-(U:-)U:-(/santa//ac//moz//googly/U-):-(U-(U:-)U:-([wc] ;)

Well, if the smiley convention ever does get called, here's my vote... ;)
I wholeheartedly agree on the following points:
I started a thread the day about a bottom smiley, but strangly it got removed ASAP cant imagine why?
You set off the WebmasterWorld Poor Tact Filter.
Obviously I hacked a workaround for that algo long ago. <g>
