I typed in the wrong password to my google account twice and was presented a captcha (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart).

I tried five times but was not able to solve it. The same thing has happened before on other websites. There seems to be only one possible explanation why I am failing the Turing Test: I am slowly turning into a machine. I am not a human anymore.

On the other hand I have heard rumours that a computer named Elbot nearly passed the turing test. What does this mean? Are computers taking over the world? Are they the ones turning us all into machines? I have heard of other people failing turing tests, too. So this must be contagious - probably caused by some virus that infects people when visiting a website. I have created tin foil hats for me and my family to prevent the spreading of the disease.

I have to stop, I think the coffee machine is giving me queer looks. Probably suspecting that I am giving away their little secret... No, stop, not with the Latte macchiato .. AAAH...

Is that really what CAPTCHA stands for? As opposed to Turing tests that don't tell them apart?

The problem is CAPTCHA, is the Completely Automated part. So it's a computer that's generating the test to tell if your human.
