I am sitting at my desk just now and the phone rings... and it's me!

Then when it goes to message, nothing but music.

Someone has spoofed me with my own name and number and then leaves music as the message.

What is up with that? Very strange indeed.

I know a guy that writes software for phone calling systems and they can do lots of tricks these days. Most of the time they are limited by local laws as to what they can implement.

I have some VoiP software that lets me put in the "from" number and name as a field and that is what gets sent through.

Also I know someone who does an Interactive Voice service and they do mass call outs for people and they can enter a number so that if someone wishes to return the call it doesn't go through his switch.

I will say that it is just as possible that some weird routing issue happened and somehow your line actually did put through a call request to your line. The music you heard could be some "on hold" music.

Do you have "on hold" music?

At least you didn't hear your voice leaving a message- THAT would have been weird! :)

Does this have something to do with this "Parallel Universe" that is being researched? I watch the Discovery Channel you know. They talk about this type of stuff. ;)

The Universe series on History Channel did a parallel universe episode this week. Fascinating stuff.

I've received calls where the Caller ID suggests it's me calling myself. I've never answered the calls because I use a phone management system with whitelisting so unless someone is on my whitelist I don't hear the phone ring and they can't leave a message. I do see the calls in the calls history window. Ever since I installed this system my work has never been interrupted by phone spammers.

Agree. It must be one of those Dinosaurs in your living room playing with the phone again!
