I'd like to buy a new laptop and wondered if anyone here had any advice or recommendations ?

£200 - £400

at least 2gb ram

Anyone seen any great deals ? and perhaps a voucher code on top :)

There are several tech deal sites in the USA like techbargains.com, digitaldeals.net, and slickdeals.net. Must be some in GB too.

I've looked at Dell and I guess they are decent, was hoping someone may have a more interesting or alternative option ?

Do a search for "Dell Financial Services" (the "dfsdirectsales" site), and look at the refurbished laptops -- some carry the a decent balance of the original warranty, same thing on the "Dell Auctions" site.

I was just looking at Latitude D810 and D820 models.. nice features, and they had some with 2GB.

I've had good luck with the just about anything in the Latitude series.

In the UK Novatech [novatech.co.uk] have a superb range. They buy in from China part built and assemble in their own factory to various specs - including custom build. We bough a laptop for my wife years ago and it has been excellent.

Thanks guys, finally found what I think is a bargain...

* Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5750
* (2 GHz, 667 MHz, 2 MB Cache)
* Genuine Windows Vista (R) Home Premium
* 2 GB memory
* 200 GB Hard Drive

for £299 .. not bad ?
