XMAS In a Cabin

Im going to be in a cabin this xmas, just dont know where

Hello WebmasterWorld,
After a fun long year which flew by quickly I have decided that I would like to take a few minutes and relax. This Christmas we're set on going to a cabin somewhere. Yes spending xmas in a cabin. Were in Southern California currently and I have no clue where to go find cabins, where to stay, whats good, and all those other fun questions.

Im looking for your help, know any cabins where there is snow during christmas season in California area? I look despertly for your help in planning my vacation :)

Well Whistler has a trace of snow and will proably have some by Xmas. Great scenery, your dollar goes forever up here and only half the travel as if you went to mivox (hehe) where the US dollar only goes, well, as far as it does in Calif. :0

As for cabins, there are lots.

How far do you want to fly? Washington and Montana will have some snow. Colorado, Michigan, etc.

I have stayed in cabins lots. On the Gulf Islands, on lakes in BC, at Whistler (cabins will be expensive there btw at Xmas).

Never at Xmas though.

Gulf Islands are really nice too! Try Salt Spring for larger island with services and some tourist commercial activity (not much by city standards though).

There are cabins all over the UP in Michigan. Tennessee as well but no guarantee of snow here.

Try searching for "holiday rental cabin" or something like that... or if you have $1000 or so for plane fare, I'll find one up here for you. ;)

McCall, Idaho - Beautiful area 2 hrs north of Boise with snow and skiing. It's one of those places where millionaires, billionaires, and the hick locals all get along...

But I'd vote for Canada, they sure are nice up there! In college we were on a ski trip in Banff for a week and a friend was trying to bum a buck off someone for a slice of pizza at 3 a.m. The friendly canuck yells at him for begging, and being an all around drunken idiot and then gives him $5 for some food... ;)

:P oOoo man looks like so many of these rental sites are owned with bad SEO work :P I didnt even know there were services which linked peoples rental stuff :) I learn something new daily.

But anycase im still looking for that right cabin, and i dont even know if it snows at all of these places. im sure outside of california there more chance to snow - well outside of southern california.

I was thinken bigbear area but i dont even really know.

After a bit of wavering , I have buckled under the tremendous pressure of my wife and daughter to put a "closed for the holidays" sign on the site and head to the Caribbean for Christmas. Even thought it is early in the season, I am already fed up with the snow and am itching to play a round of golf or three.

Man, so many of these cabins are equipped for like 10 people :) I only need one bedroom, something small and not so close to other things. Like I found one i thought would be good - said it was on 1/2 arce, then it says 6 single beds 1 queen :P

Rent? Where I come from you just hike in the 5 miles or so and stake your claim in the loft. Most of them sleep 10-15 but there'll be only a few folks in the mountains at this time of year. There's wire mesh to keep out the porcupines and the door is pretty sturdy. Water's a short walk away and the loo is downwind. Bring food and tp.

Oooo...and stay indoors at night or you'll be someone else's Christmas dinner.

EW, I've only once stayed in a mountain cabin in the woods, what a memorable experience. Head on up the 5 Freeway over the Grapevine to Frazier Park in Kern County. It's rustic, has everything and there's even snow as late as March.

Marcia from your description thats sounds nice. The location you mentioned is about 2 hours away. Im about 4 hours from bigbear i think which would be another choice. Still on the search :P

Well see what happens to plans. I found out that my parents took off work for the holidays so I will be in Vegas, not much snow ;P but the hotel I got for 10.25 a night :) I can't beat that. In anycase we still want to do the cabin in early January :)
