The lake is clear, so clear in fact that when you look at it, you don't even notice your reflection, but instead, the pattern of the stones on the lake bed.
Now picture yourself on the mountain top, standing in the lake, barefooted, the chill water is refreshing and the only sound is the churning water. You become entranced by that sound as you picture the face of the person you want to smack, under that clear mountain lake water, with your hands around their throat, holding them under... :)

1. walk away... always.
2. smack something anyways... pillows are good... pets are bad.
3. If you live somewhere you can scream incoherently at the top of your lungs without having the town constabulary on your doorstep... go do it. Don't stop until you can't no more.
4. If you have a really great friend who suffers from instant amnesia five minutes after your rant is over and knows enough to sit quietly in between fixing coffee and only interjecting occasionally with 'that utter ***!' or 'youbetcher***Iwouldhavetoo!' for five hours or so... go find em.

Normally I just listen to rage against the machine when im pi@#ed off. There is nothing better than listening to aggressive music when you are mad. You’d think that it would make you feel even more aggressive but it doesn’t. Its amazing how hearing a couple of foul words really loud can make a difference. I suggest you buy some head phones if you want to try this method at work;)
Either that or go for a run or walk. Exercise always makes you feel better when you are really mad. Even if its just a walk around the park.

I also used to have a big piece of wood in my shed, thrashing that with a huge hammer can releive a great deal of tension.
Mild anger and annoyance can be resolved by throwing the mouse across the room, I only buy the cheap ones.

veneerz, you left out the most important part...
By distracting your conscious mind with counting you can short circuit that pesky belief system and smack away with a clear conscience. ;)
