“I don’t know if it’s legal or illegal,” but maybe there should be a sign at public boat docks stating that boaters should respect a baptism service and not launch boats until the service is over, he said.

And while the services were taking place, an individual with a boat to launch became impatient and went ahead and put it in the water.

Who holds Baptisms at a Boat Ramp? What, did they just come over from the trailer park or something? ;)

That is too funny!

Maybe...

In other business, the commission unanimously approved a zoning ordinance relating to the location of used mobile homes.

"I think it's real rude to do something like that," Commissioner Shipley said.

WHY? I paid my $10 fee to use the ramp, these people are clearly violating the NO SWIMMING signs that are at every boat ramp I know of. I have to license my boat, have a license to fish, I am clearly a law abiding citizen and they are NOT.

I do a lot of fishing . . . . and have never seen a boat ramp without large signs that say "NO SWIMMING." It only makes sense, boats and bodies do not mix.

I'll tell you what's rude: just presume that public land is yours for the taking any time you want just because you're "chosen." ACK!

How would these people feel if a large group of Buddhists wanted to perform some water ritual at this boat ramp? "Buddhists Jailed for Unlawful Assembly at Lake, Film at 11."

I have a large rant on this "agenda" which I will withhold, every bit of it will violate most of the TOS.

LOL! Wouldn't that be kind of the same thing as deciding to have church in the middle of a public road.... aside from that, most boat launches aren't even close to somewhere i'd want to be dunked. Not the best choice even if there weren't no swimming signs :)

...that on the Fourth of July, a local church held baptism services at a public boat ramp for about 40 people..

They choose the Fourth of July, probably the most popular boating day of the year.
