By "hinting" I mean in the non subtle "Gee, that would be a nice F-Day gift hon," sort of way.
mmmmmmm..... multi-tool.......
A EEE PC would go over pretty well too... If they all weren't perpetually sold out everywhere on the planet.
At the moment some socks would be good, they don't seem to last any more. All my socks eventually end up with air-conditioned heels. I've been buying the same black socks from Marks & Spencer for about 20 years always in black so if one goes I can keep the other to pair up later. They used to last years but now I'm lucky if I get 6 months out of them. All part of the drive to make everything cheaper and therefore de-specified I suppose. Soon I'll just paint my feet.
Air compressor built right in! No more driving around looking for a gas station and a few quarters when you get off the trail!
The best present, any day of the year, is seeing that they're growing into the kind of good adults you worked so hard to be an example of, even under the standard facade of annoying teenage-ness. No trinket could compare, though the home made cards are nice. :)

My 4-year-old explained to me today that he'd made a card at nursery, that it is in the drawer in the living room, that he is going to hide it behind his back then tell me to close my eyes and he will shout "surprise" and give it to me. I promised to keep it a secret. :)
He's told you, clearly, that he knows he can trust you and you're his friend. No father is going to get a better Father's Day gift from their child than that.
He loves football as much as I do. He has played since he was 9 and he is turning 13 this year.
Honestly though any man with a child in his life is blessed and hopefully they are smart enough to realize it and take full advantage.
Happy Father's day to all the WebmasterWorld dads out there. Give your kids as much time as you do your sites and we will all see the best kind of return on your investment.. another good person in the world... we need more.
