With his trademark "hambone" rhythm that characterised so many of his songs and was adopted by Buddy Holly on Not Fade Away, Bruce Springsteen on She's the One and The Who on Magic Bus, Bo Diddley was a lasting influence on rhythm and blues.

From the BBC [news.bbc.co.uk].

Rather irritatingly, the narrator in the video clip states that he had limited musical ability and a limited repertoire! Obviously he's not too familiar with Mr Diddley's work! Nor has he been paying much attention to what passes for musical talent these past two or three decades!

It'd be almost impossible to cite the musicians influenced by Bo Diddley. I kinda liked the Diddley influenced album by Quicksilver Messenger Service, Happy Trails.

I met Bo once, he was playing a local club and I made friends with his road manager(because we were both Deadheads). So he invited to the dressing room after the show for a few beers. Bo was super nice to me, funny and it was very cool to be in his presence.

I saw Tom Petty last night, he played a Bo Diddley song and said a few words about him. It was a touching tribute.
