Speculation of the week: Google & Skype

It seems to me that anyone could start a prediction that Google is going to buy company A or technology B.

The latest mill is Google and Skype.

For me, I could see how it would fit into Google, but, at what price? Google have deep pockets, without doubt, and does eBay want to divest itself of the Skype package?

Just think of the possibilities of monetization of Skype!

I would prefer not to!

Skype is an amazing product and has reduced my International calls to almost zero.

It is a difficult product to stick ads into because if they did that I would go to whoever reinvented Skype sans the ads.
