Rupert Murdoch's recently acquired Dow Jones & Co publishing business will start printing the Wall Street Journal in London this month, raising the competitive threat to rivals like Pearson's Financial Times.

This, in my view, is because they've not brave enough to have a true Euro edition and break the ties with America and Wall Street.
Mr Murdoch has no such sentimentality and will publish something to scare the dusty old FT off its rather dry perch.
Online considerations are certainly in the mix, for to build up a solid user base in Europe one must have an offering that is more local than just the American WSJ with a couple of European articles in it. Old fashioned rules apply. Win hearts and minds of the readers with 'local' content and then they will follow you online.
Whilst business and the internet may be global, geopolitics and local markets are still major considerations.
