I've had some keyboard 'glitches' lately. A couple of function buttons not functioning. Today, a few of the letters stopped functioning. The keys worked fine, but nothing happening. Not good. Decided to declare 'red alert', got out of my applications, shut down, and fired back up with the original (and unused) keyboard and mouse. What junk! No wonder I never used them. Bought a Logitech MX Duo at the same time as the system, so it's given me four years, plus I'd been using another MX Duo for two years before that - so six years on one mouse and keyboard setup. Just about top-shelf at the time. (Spend more time with my hands on keyboard and mouse than on my girlfriend:))

Some quick research searches, then an emergency shopping trip to see what's happening in keyboards these days. It didn't look too good at first, even knowing in advance that I was probably not going to have the best attitude towards anything new for such a 'personal item'. But I really liked the feel of the Logitech MX Revolution laser mouse, and wound up going with the MX 5500 Revolution keyboard/mouse combo.

Three restarts to uninstall everything possible. (Three 'independent' Logitech programs.) The 'Download Manager' refused to uninstall, then appeared to do so anyway. Went into Program Files to see what else could or should be found and cleaned up, and there was what appeared to be the entire Download Manager package. Tried to delete the entire directory, but got a warning (which I've seen before) stating something along the lines of 'Deleting this directory or files could cause some applications or programs to not function.' I'm always a coward when I see those messages - and always resent seeing them too! How about some useful information that will help me maintain a clean system? Anyway, I did what I could in preparation, had no significant issues installing the new software, and declined the Yahoo junk. (Wonder what they didn't mention, what wasn't optional in the installation?) Except for a high-end laser mouse that I tried and hated and quickly returned a couple of years ago, I've always loved their products, but always been wary of some of the software, though it looks like they may be less invasive than they used to be; or maybe it's just harder to see what favors I've been done that aren't wanted:))

Love the mouse. Just feels great in the hand, and buttons are more programmable than ever. Getting used to the keyboard will take a little time. Even with the feet up, it sits at a slightly shallower angle than I'm used to, and shallower than I prefer for comfort over a long period of time. Double striking keys..... But thousands of hours on one keyboard versus a couple of hours on a new one - perhaps I should give it a chance:)) It's got all sorts of unneeded but cool to have whiz-bangs; digital display with temperature, total keystroke counter, date and time, media access; all easily toggled. It'll take a month to figure out what all it does besides type:))

Have found a bug though I think. In my second monitor, the 'thumb wheel' does not scroll Firefox or open Thunderbird emails. Drag them over to Display 1 and the thumb wheel scrolls just fine. This feature works fine with IE, Opera, everything else tested in Display 2. (Intermittent, but mostly (90%)does not work in Display 2 with one Firefox window open. Does not work at all if two Firefox windows are open, unless you drag it over to Display 1; then perfect.? It will scroll Thunderbird panels that have focus in Display 2, but open the email, and no go with the thumb wheel; until dragged to Display 1. Top wheel unaffected in all instances, so I reckon it don't make no nevermind:))

Collectors Item, original patina! Priceless!
Slightly used mouse. [dbwebdesign.com]

Top tip!
Take keyboard apart, remove circuit board.
Put in dishwasher.
Allow to dry.
Put keyboard back together.
Place extra screws in the 'where do they come from' screw jar.

Works for me.
sorry no refunds available

LOL - No. No joke. Certainly not when I suddenly lost use of a half-a-dozen keys. Panic wasn't far behind. I actually feel that it helped that a couple of the function buttons had already been glitchy. Lost no time in going shopping.

And it's turning out for the best. Looking at the picture of the mouse was an eye opener. My office isn't really that nasty - is it?

Don't know what good the keystroke counter actually is, but have topped 38,000 in 24 hours. OMG! How many keystrokes in a year? I haven't even done that much work today!
