Man killed by suicide robot

An elderly Australian man apparently shot himself dead Tuesday, using an elaborate suicide robot of his own construction, according to media reports.

Talk about motivation....and what about those relatives - guy had enough presence of mind to build a robot, yet relatives wanted to put him to nursing home

It sounds too Rube Goldberg to me. Whatever happened to propping the gun up and tying a string to the trigger?

I guess he had too much time on his hands, (but figured out how to use up some of it --- and waste the rest).

After moving the robot to his driveway, he placed himself in front of the device and set the controls to up yours, Asimov

(Isaac) Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics would prevent any robot that had them imprinted onto its circuit boards from firing any bullets at the man.

This was just a nod to Asimov as I'm sure this particular robot doesn't have a positronic brain.

"up yours Asimov" is, imo, sarcastic comment on Asimov's three laws of robotics (as mentioned previously). wikipedia has decent article about three laws:
