  • I hold two bank accounts, and one is barely above zero most of the time, last saturday when I visited the branch, the guy at the counter was basically mocking me, on how I left 60 dollars in the account when I was standing there waiting.

  • Not to forget the chewing gum [webmasterworld.com] scenario.

  • Not to mention the ones who deduct their own tips (if you give it to them a few times, a change comes with the tips deducted), like the other night, when I confronted the guy, he just said, "I knew you would give it to me."

Just make sure you don't step on anything [webmasterworld.com] when you arrive here. :)

I tried to make an international payment through my business account a couple of months ago in person at my local branch. I was told that I had to have picture ID to do so. I have held accounts in that branch for 35 years and I know some of the staff personally.

I now have a new business bank!

Regarding the marijuana/Dubai thing, I travelled through Dubai airport with my wife twice during February and my wife had Cocodamol in her luggage. We could have been jailed for that?

I will certainly be thinking long and hard about visiting there again.

BeeDeeDubbleU, I tried to make an international payment as well a few days ago. The teller was looking at me and the rest of the guys in the queue, how I was supposed to transfer money if I don't have the bank account number, though I repeatdely showed him the IBAN Number.

I was not sure which part of the IBAN number was the bank account number (IBAN not used much here), but he SHOULD have known better.

The last thing I want to do is to tell such people how stupid they are in public. But it is time I learn, to find a way :)

That's one of the reasons I do my international payments online, so at least I know who is to blame if something goes wrong. A few month ago I had to transfer an amount that was larger than the daily security limit I have set for my online banking and so I had to visit my local branch. The teller had to get two of his colleagues and only together they figuered out how to fill out the form correctly.
