This talk is two years old - so I'm sure the data display software has advanced even further. But just check out Hans Rosling's talk. He's been able to de-bunk many myths and communicate important new insights with this kind of analysis and display.

The Trendalyzer software (recently acquired by Google) turns complex global trends into lively animations, making decades of data pop.

love it. I have done static graphs from public tabular data for a couple of my websites but would love to take it to this level. I have contacted him to see if we can collaborate.

That's phenomenal stuff on several levels. Rosling is inspirational. Really enjoyed it and learned something at the same time. I'm forwarding the clip to an academic colleague of mine who works in global development research.

that is clever and informative . I must admit stats and anylising them can be so booring but that was interesting and 20 minutes well spent
