Im not sure if they will block coverage outside of the USA, however, however geotargeting is easy to defeat for US TV networks, if you can find a fast proxy server.
World Series or Super Bowl the US is barely heard from. Must be something in the water...KF
You don't wanna know. . .
I can't vouch for other sports but football (soccer) is just a huge part of english culture (and probably the same in the other countries which make up Britain). Not sure I have a good explanation for this, it just is :)
You'll notice there's a distinct lack of posts about the rugby at present. Maybe there are not that many Welsh people here... ;)
Having said that, the one big difference I can see is that UK sports is much more frequently about international competition. It's literally France vs. the U.K., or the U.K. vs. Australia - who's best? That does tend to amplify the emotional connection that humans have to their home teams, really beyond all rational levels.
If you ever get the chance, go to a Michigan/Ohio State game...
As mentioned, I think nationalism plays a large part. No matter what team wins the Super Bowl, or the World Series, it's still an American team. With that said, a drive through any U.S. town should be enough to let anyone know that Americans are serious about their sports. Maybe Europeans are just more emotional... ;)
