[msnbc.msn.com...]

Feeling pretty good today :)

According to the logs, the mention only brought a few visitors by direct referral. I only found it because I was curious why visitor counts were up. So, I did a search and found the msnbc.com page by searching on the site name.

Since the direct referrals were minimal, there must have been visitors coming from news feeds or direct navigation. But, I'll give msnbc.com the credit :)

I wonder what the link juice might be like. Anyone hazard a guess?

Just like mom and dad said about always working even when times are tough! Thanks to them!

Congrats!

You should get a bit of link love for that.

It's not the one that still says: "WHY WAIT? GET READY FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON NOW! LET US WATCH YOUR SERVERS!" is it?

;-)

But there's always a holiday coming up :)

Getting that permanent link is nice. It's a plain unadorned link, meaning no redirect or no-follow. Mind you they have a LOT of pages and a lot of outbounds.

Like I said today to someone, once it moves into the archive, it's permanent. Not like a paid link that disappears as soon as the invoice doesn't get paid.

no way to redecorate those links in some hidden javascript?

I don't think it would matter.

First, because search engines (according to conventional wisdom) don't do javascript.

Second, because for regular visitors they will get to the destination anyways.

Anyways, my attitude towards inbounds, is that a link is a link, even from scrapers :)
