A private firm funded by Google Inc launched its Web-based DNA test in Europe on Tuesday, hoping to build on a successful start in the United States, where the $999 service went on sale in November.

For me, it is a scary concept.

Once they've got your DNA on file, how do you know it's going to be secure? How do you know what will happen to the information? Can you be sure it won't be used against you?
