Over the weekend we received reports of a malicious software package created for unlocked iPhones. The trojan installation package contains false application installation information that causes legitimate third party applications to be removed if the trojan is uninstalled from the iPhone.
...
This time it was an 11-year-old kid playing with XML files who created the trojan. Next time it might be someone else with more skills and with specific target.
Maybe it's just because I haven't finished my first cup of coffee yet, but this is just knee slappin' hillarious.
Granted, it only works on unlocked iPhones, but come on, how weak must the underlying security be if an 11 year old can mess the thing up with an XML file?
Disclosure: I started working on computers in the late 70s, early 80s, and to me, Apple's were, always have been, always will be, toys for people who shouldn't be allowed near a keyboard.
Disclosure the second: I don't have any direct affilliation with F-Secure, but they have sent me some neato stickers and a couple of t-shirts over the years.
