Our intention is to obtain the 2009 Guinness Book of World Records as the largest and most artistically detailed fireworks display in the history of the world. The fireworks will be conducted to an original score. Our concept is to be the first to set the world record here in Dubai and keep the Dubai’s Guinness Record every year from 2009 onwards.

A display on this scale is certain to have some environmental impact.

I just hope it looks better than their website. You would think that with the money they are spending they could have done a better job than this.

I wouldn't go jumping to conclusions until you get some hard facts, the reason is because I frequently see reports where people will emphasize that coal ash has mercury, other heavy metals, radioctivity etc.... only trouble is that its only slightly more elevated than dirt. lol

If it's enviromentalist website you can pretty much discout whatever information is there, same thing goes for the industry website. You need find a impartial third party.

Update:

It was indeed great. I am not sure if this is ever going to be the largest, but it was wonderful.

It was indeed better than the site as well ;) :)

Glad you enjoyed it!

The best one I ever saw was at new year on the Island of Madeira. They set up an amazing display all around the bay of Funchal. Apparently they put the pyrotechnics out to tender each year and each of the companies who apply are asked to set up a demo display during the previous summer. The locals get several bonus displays as a result.
