GSM phone in the US?

Can I buy a sim card for my gsm phone in vegas, or do I need to buy one of those pay as you go US phones? I would like to have a local number while I'm at pubcon, so the solution in most of the world is to just buy a local sim card and pop it in the gsm phone.

If this is not the case, do the airports sell these types of pay as you go phones, or do I need to get off the strip on Vegas to buy one?

You can buy a cheap phone for about $15.00 and a subscription for about $30.00
which will get you about 90 minutes.

Available in drug stores, super markets, Target etc.

I am not sure about the Sim card but I am sure someone can fill you in...KF
