Do you think Google will recognise us this time? I think they have done St Paddy's day for the Irish, St David's day for the Welsh and St George's day for the Sassenachs but AFAIK they have never recognised St Andrews Day for the Scots.

Hail Caledonia!
What do we have to do to get an indentity other than Brigadoon or Harry Lauder in the US?
Anyway I have my kilt dusted down for the big "do" tonight.
What is St Andrew's Day? I though Burns night was the big night for the Scots?
In the UK and Ireland each country has its own patron saint's day, St Andrew's day for Scotland, St Patrick's day for Ireland, St David's day for Wales and St George's day for England.
Probably the most widely celebrated Worldwide is St Patrick's day with St Andrews day a distant second. AFAIK Google has recognised them all in the past apart from St Andrews day.
As you say, Burns Night is probably more widely celebrated in Scotland. I would also accept a Google theme for Burns night on 25 January but I won't hold my breath.
Is St. Andrews Day similar to Burn's night when large amounts of Malt is drunk and haggis consumed?
Do the embassies abroard celebrate St. Andrews Day? as I know they normall throw a bash for Burns night.

I have never heard of him being associated with Ukraine as such.
a) Ask a Ukrainian.
b) Go to St. Andrew's Cathedral at the top of Andriyivsky Uzviz (Andrew's Descent) in Kyiv. Tell me what you find out.
Russia nicked St. Andrew from Ukraine, along with Ukraine's mediaeval history.
