Trying to explain PR to a "civilian" can be difficult, best analogy I've come up with is the "uncut diamond", gross carat weight can be impressive but may have little bearing on the size/value of the gem itself.

Anyone have their own PR analogies?

Green pixels only show up because of links. It does not reflect the site content as being valuable or not (the inherent problem for those which give any weight to the green pixels).

I simply state the truth...which is the site has no decent backlinks, it's penalized, has a small portion of good links, decent backlinks, or very good backlinks.

How about the plain unvarnished truth?

PR as in Public Relations, Press Releases, or PageRankTM? After all, most of us are likely to be involved with at least two out of the three.
