Coldplay - Rush of blood to the head (never understood why, until this album, simply stunning).

Streets - Pirate Material (one of the most original sounds i have heard in years).

David Bowie - Heathen (Always been up and down, with this chap, however this album, is an ultimate redemption in my mind, extremely well constructed sound of 30+ years writing songs, brillant).

Babel Gilberto - Tanto Tempo (Very assured vocals, in a mixture of Brizilian Portuguese and English, over some soothing tones > interestingly seductive).

Craig Armstrong - As if to Nothing (Haunting, very spatial and explorative).

jesus and mary chain - 21 singles (always liked them)

the vines - highly evolved (the harder songs are solid)

everclear - sparkle and fade (any everclear really, had this one for a while though)

queens of the stone age - songs for the deaf

I am on a harder music kick at the moment, to much wuss stuff for the longest time. Figured I should get some dirty stuff for a while.

heh, I haven't listened to a lot of new music this year, but I'll throw out my list anyway :)

I've gotta go with caine on Coldplay's latest - very cool album.

U2's greatest hits 1990-2000 (it's not out just yet, but I already know that I love all the songs on it :)

Avril Lavigne - Let Go (not sure what it is about this album, but I can't stop listening to it.)

Michelle Branch - The Spirit Room (ditto above. Generally I would consider myself too 'cool' to be listening to stuff getting played so much on MTV, but I'm making an exception ;)

Oasis - Heathen Chemistry (much better that their last outing.)

I'm sure there's plenty of other good stuff out there, I just haven't taken the time to listen to it.

System of a Down - Toxicity (Really innovative music. They will be a huge influence on future music)

Korn - Untouchables (Have been producing very unique music for years. Have to say one of their best albumns.)

Eminem - The Eminem Show (Excellent albumn. Probably his best albumn.)

Puddle of Mudd - Come Clean (A lot of emotion. Touch of nirvana and a touch of skynard with a lot of variation from song to song.)

Moby - 18 (He goes back to his original sound that I liked. Very cool electronic music.)

I dunno for me cuz I haven't bought an album in months, but I will tell you this - I have gazillions of products on my site so it's rare to see more than 2 or 3 of any one item go in a month. I've sold a dozen of the 8 Mile Soundtracks this month already, so Eminem is definitely big! (Granted, it doesn't hurt sales that for some reason Google loves my page for that album...)

The Bollywood Brass Band - Rahmania

not just because the trombonist is a mate...it's...it's unusual...erm...maybe deranged but gorgeous is closer to the mark

Primal Scream - Evil Heat

it's not as good as Xtrmntr, but they are still the best band in the world by a mile

there is a new Third Eye Blind album out imminently...I expect it to be in the top 5 easily

I bought Finistere, the new St Ettienne album this morning...it makes the top 5 too...they've not done anything that matches Good Humour...but this is right up there with Tiger Bay, my other favourite of theirs

Simply the best album I have bought for a long, long time.

Weezer - Maladroit (Amazing video for 'Keep Fishin')
Jurassic 5 - Power in Numbers (True old school rap)
Elbow - Asleep in the Back (The best thing out of the UK since Radiohead)
System of a Down - Toxicity ('Chop Suey' rocks my ass off!)
Coldplay - Rush of Blood to the Head (The other best thing out of the UK since Radiohead)

I have three things to say about Eminem, and none are orignal thoughts of my own:

1. "With A homie like Dre just supplyin' the beat" (From Eazy-E's song "Eazy Does It", Dr. Dre produces Eminem nowadays for those not familiar.)

2. Past rappers had an "East Coast/West Coast" rivalry that may have indirectly resulted in the deaths of Tupac Shakur and The Notorious BIG. Eminem chooses to "attack" Chris Kirkpatrick and Moby in his latest song. He attacks a "boy band" singer and a Buddhist. That's like saying you're the toughest kid in school because you can beat up everyone who rides the short bus. (From a comedian I saw at the local comedy spot last week. Probably the best opening act I've seen there.)

3. Ghetto rage goes down easier from a guy named Marshall. (From an Onion.com Infographic about "The White Rap Boom".)

The last CD I bought was the soundtrack to Orange County. It is sitting on top of Yanni Live At The Acropolis, Rush 2112, a single of Bitchin' Camaro, Beatles Blue Album and the soundtrack to O' Brother Where Art Thou. A single glass of Grand Marnier is resting on Beethoven- Compleat Works. There's a Social Distortion cd resting next to Blackmoore's Night that is sitting next to Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.

What's this about 2002? ;)
