Server was down recently so I had some time to go back through the forum library.

What a treasure trove of great information! While some of the problems of the past are no longer with us a lot of the information is as valid today as it
was years back. It struck me as knowledgeable, helpful and in most cases very learned. Some one should edit them and put them in a book!

I saw a lot of names that I recognize but far more that I have never seen before.

The question occurred to me of what happened to these posters of the past?

Have they moved on to other forums? Grew tired of the process? Quit the business? Retired? Died?(hope not)

I would like to hear from all the posters who have been around the forum for
awhile to give us their opinion to what happen to these great posters of the past...KF

They never returned from the first pubcon.

PUBCON 1 = DEFCON 1

Very few survived the attack except the English who had many years of very hard training in pub warfare.

I did see a few old names at one or two of the other pubcons but they looked a bit too shocked by the first mission to be of any use to the internet world. They were on a day out with their carers I think.

> Grew tired of the process? Quit the business?

A few did. One is now back in an old job of accouting.

> Have they moved on to other forums?

A group tried doing a ultra private seo forum. They quit that when they found out one of the admins worked for a search engine.

> Retired?

Old webmasters never retire - they just move to webmastering nonprofit sites.

> Died?(hope not)

Yes one did. rip.

I faded away for a little over a year while I fought a nasty custody battle and had no time / energy for anything else. I'm glad to say I'm back though...

SEO Mike,

Welcome back! Just got out of court last week helping my daughter with the same problem.

Not pleasant at all. Poor kids get caught right in the middle of it all.

Hope your out come was fair and equitable...KF

Ironic timing on this topic. Not that I consider myself a great poster, but I believe this will be one of my last posts on WebmasterWorld.

Much success to all of you and thanks for all the advice!

So are you going to leave us in suspense before you go as to why you are leaving? Joining the peace corps, career change or?

.. but I believe this will be one of my last posts on WebmasterWorld.

That quote sounds vaguely familiar.

You know you're going to miss me.
