With no WiFi in many of the places I visit, I use a 3g data card in my laptop to access the Internet on the move.

The data card itself is relatively low cost.

However, the cost of data transfer/monthly subscription is prohibitive. Actually, I'd say it's extortionate at £25 per month.

What solutions do you use?

They're wanting $50(US) for a card ($150-$100 rebate) and $60 a month for access. I'm thinking about it.

Engine, with Vodafone UK that £25 will buy you 3GB per month on the latest plan I think (I'm hoping that the CSR I spoke to managed to get me on it), which is actually pretty good considering that it used to be several £/MB not so long ago.

I stick to offpeak usage at £5 per month unlimited with Orange. I notice the 3 Network offer 3gB for £15

£5.00 per month is very good, thanks. I'll check into that.

Voda want £25 per month, and I think that is simply too much, expecially when you consider a home broadband connection can be well less that £20 per month, and unlimited.

So far, i've never hit the download limits, so a low use rate would be much more cost-effective.

I did try the pay as you go option, but that is hugely expensive on bandwidth.

I am sitting in an Internet cafe in Oludeniz (Turkey) writing this for £2.00 per hour!
