The wait is finally over--Apple has officially unveiled the U.K. iPhone, which will be available to buy from November 9. Steve Jobs himself made the announcement from the Apple store in London, to which we were cordially invited this morning. As expected, it's on the O2 network and we won't be getting the 4GB version, we'll only get the 8GB one, which will set you back 269 pounds (about $537) including VAT.

In terms of the monthly contract you'll have to pay 35, 45 or 55 pounds per month over an 18-month contract.
My emphasis.
Eighteen months! That's just absurd. Let me see:
18 x £35 = £630
18 x £55 = £990
Throw in the cost of the device - £269 - and you're looking at an outlay of £899-1,259. And that's before you start paying for any services. Ouch!
Syzygy
It has a 5 megapixel camera
A DVD quality video recorder (my favourite feature)
Can get a 4GB card for it just now (can be removed - I've got two) with higher capacities on their way (it can take 32GB max - the 32GB card is expected to be released near the end of 2008).
Theres a wire that connects it to your tv (or stero) so that you can play games, view photos/videos, surf the net, play music etc all through your tv (it outputs DVDs at standard tv resolution which is great).
It also support a2dp (I think thats what its called!). This means that it connects wirelessly to my bluetooth headphone, and I can skip to the next/previous track, adjust volume or pause just by pressing small buttons on my headphone.
Its speakers are the best yet on a phone and are loud (make that very loud). Half the time I walk around with it playing songs (several thousand tracks on mine - supports great conversion formats).
There are stacks of games that you can get for it.
The screen is great (you can view things vertically or horizontally).
The battery requires charging once a day (seems to last longer the older it gets) - but given that I'm using it essentially as a stereo half the time and got the screen on max brightness that's no surprise.
Aside from that I'd just want a faster processor, more RAM and the new projector facility that hopefully will become popular on the next generation of mobiles. Oh... and yes a touch screen would be cool to!
So it recap its good a digital camera, dvd resolution camcorder, portable games machine, dvd player (play downloaded vids onto your tv), web browsing (at a pinch), obviously a good phone, portable memory stick (via leads or the included adapter), calender (though I don't really require much) and MP3 player.
And that's the best part of it - you'd use the camcorder facility, play games on it, etc, in places where you'd normally not - i.e. where you wouldn't have taken your camcorder/psp etc with you.
