it was good to put faces to names. i managed to chat to a few and shook hands with a few more, but there was no way to meet and chat with everyone - just too many people and too little time.
anyone who missed out, you missed out in a big big way. next time, book up nice and early. if possible get a couple of nights in the hotel - i didn't do that as i only live a few miles away, but next year i definitely will - there just isn't the time to meet everyone if you don't.
the pub was packed. i found my way to the bar ok, then i got kinda stuck there. couldn't move because it was so crowded (honest, i was stuck there and it had nothing to do with the free beer!). i got busy chatting. so busy that i missed out on the food. i got to pick some brains, and i was surprised when others picked mine. brains? what brains? if anyone says i've got brains, i'll sue for defamation of character. i didn't get to blackmail the search engine reps to get my site to the top, so i guess i'll have to leave that till next year. in the meantime i'll use the google wotsits (thank you thank you thank you google reps :) ). and i only just got them before the google reps went home. brett didn't bow and scrape in my presence, but never mind. i missed out on the free pens as well - next year that's first on the list. i refuse to chat to anyone next year until i have a free pen. i forgot to take any business cards - i even printed a new batch out on friday night just to make sure i had some. gonna have to do a lot better next year.
got to say a big thanks to everyone involved in arranging pubcon and count me in for next year. if i can persuade / blackmail / force someone to look after my business, i'll try and make it over the pond for the US meets.
Nutsandbolts,
I hope I was some help to your site and it was great to hear that you had lost your PR0.
Drastic,
WOW. The silent type :). It was nice talking to you.
DizzyDazz,
Did you pull? You were looking very friendly with a nice young lass. Who was she? It was great talking to you.
DaveN,
Well your round was cheap :).
Lazerzubb,
16! Stamford! I'm jealous.
Mark_A or Martin_A (I can't remember and I can't find you on the board. It was Martin wasn't it),
It was great talking to you. How long were we talking. I like you ideas. You were saying about the money in the business and my regular income. Believe me, It's not that much. Think of my outgoings. A morgage, hosting, domain name, paying (or give gifts) to contributors to keep them sweet. It all takes it's toll.
I've decided to sell of a large majority of my sites. It's just too much to handle.
Ross Johnson (sticky me when you get a username),
I hope you got the information you were looking for. It was great talking to you.
4eyes,
Wow, the knowledge. I learned alot from talking to you. I hope everything carries on going well and you don't have to do too much of the boring work.
Brett,
A name to a face. I'll send you a sticky about what we were discussing.
To everyone in london,
Why don't we do this more oftern? Would you guys be interested in meeting up every now and then for a mini pub conference and drinks.
Chris.

you're not wrong!
from my point of view I found it encouraging to look around the pub and see 200+ people all making their livings from the web, and many of them going it alone. From the few people I managed to speak to, it seems that there are as many different approaches as there were attendees.
Thanks Crazy_Fool, Talltroll and Engine for the interesting discussions, and for being so open and friendly.
in a word, inspiring!
Pubcon was well worth it, thanks for your time all I spoke to, good to chat and thank you Brett and webmasterworld for organising it.
Sponsors thanks for the tab, :-) I decided if I could eat/drink $300 of food yahoo would get the few .com dir submissions that are at this moment under my influence but my stomach only managed about £30 worth so "plying me" failed and the business case for "bizex" remains ghe criteria .. funny how the free bar bell rang immediately after discussing that :-)
I guess the perlmongers were drunk eh :-) you would have to walk pretty badly to take 3 minutes from chancery lane tube station..
Oh and thank you Australia for providing good nice and capable bar staff to old London pubs..
Finally i enjoyed it as Hell!
I am lookig forward to BarCon (i know where it is :) )
4Eyes was busy all day taking photos, there is also Video Footage by Stacey which no doubt will go up at some stage.
Waiting Game :)

Left the lounge at 5 am. Still battling a headache. Does anyone in London know what Tylenol is? All I could find was aspirin.
The food was great. The people were even better.
I'm not looking forward to the flight home. It will be almost 20 hours of flights and layovers...but I WILL trace down some Tylenol:>)
My new motto: "I went to London and all I got was a lousy Google mousepad" (Just kidding)
Laz - you wouldn't want to take a ride in my motor when I'm in a hurry. ;)
