NBC Universal said Tuesday it will sell episodes of its new fall television shows using Amazon's Unbox digital download service, after the network failed to reach an agreement with Apple Inc. last week to offer the shows on iTunes.

I had not seen that. Good catch.

I'm watching with interest how the NFL is developing its own channels. It is obvious that soon, very soon, the networks we know today are going to be bypassed. What kind of box is going to make that happen, I wonder.

Sports is going be a prime driver. DirecTV sees that and is trying to use it now to build a distribution network. Good luck to them, but how people get the web is going to rule and that isn't going to be via dish. (Lag time could be overcome if you simply figured how to send a signal faster than the speed of light. Work on that and get back to me.)

It will be a long time before people want to watch football on a computer monitor. I can see maybe if you are at work on a Monday night.

I suspect live football games broadcasting in HD is the prime reason many of the big screen HD tv's are being sold.

R, I agree, but how long will it be before the TV links up easily with the web? Have you seen Apple TV? It's a neat little appliance.
