When I bought my car, the salesperson said it was lady driven, properly maintained, . . . .

To my amuzement, wherever you go in the market, all used cars tend to be lady driven. :)

No, but I just browsed around.

And everybody's saying there's nobody meaner
Than the little old lady from pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She's a terror out on coloradooulevard

Lady driven...

...so, it needs brakes, they're either worn down, or warped from over use.

...it's either full of dings and scratches, or bondo.

...the engine is full of carbon build up because the car never gets to stretch it's legs and clear all that crap out.

...and the oil might have been changed...last week by the salesman so it LOOKS clean and well maintained.

/end joke (sort of)

Don't you know there's no such thing as a "Used Car." They are all "Certified - Previously Owned" Great marketing strategy if you ask me. I wonder if the same applies if you get divorced: "Certified - Previously Owned Spouse" ;)

That certainly sounds better than "used spouse- only driven by a little old lady."

"One careful owner" ... always makes me wonder how many other non-specified non-careful owners there were?

It sounds fine to put it in your resume as well.

Martial status: Previously Owned

Life is getting easier :)

At least they're not calling them "pre-loved."

One careful lady owner. They didn't mention that the lady's grandson thrashed the car for most of the miles, did they? Didn't think so.

My brother sells second hand cars for a living, no not all his cars are were owned by little old ladys either.

He has to pay into insurance fund to protect himself and the business against false claims made by customers, which are many and often out and out lies.

I sold cars for a living for a few years. Want to know who the biggest liars are? People trading in their cars. Admit it. The last time you traded a car...did they get straight answers from you about the condition? Body work? Did you tell them the truth about how the windshield leaks when it rains? Or how it stalls out at the most unusual times?
Come on now...be truthful.

I have had people swear up and down that the car had never been hit. I could spot body work from 10 feet away. I had one tell me it had always been garage kept and the body was superior. Yeah right. I found over 40 body plugs from where they had done dentless repair from hail damage and could already spot where the little cracks were starting to appear in the paint. I guess that's why he had it so buffed up when he brought it in.

And credit. Almost all would say they have great credit. Hmmmph. The truth would come out eventually. Lie, lie, lie. There is an old saying in the car business..."buyers are liars".

I like when people complain about the salesman jerking them around on the price. These are the same people that claim to the salesman that they have had an offer of $1000 more dollars on their trade from another dealer and a $1000 less for the same car they wanted to buy from me.

Don't bang on the car salesman. He learned his habits from the public.

Car buyers and sellers are made from the same stuff.
