...so, it needs brakes, they're either worn down, or warped from over use.
...it's either full of dings and scratches, or bondo.
...the engine is full of carbon build up because the car never gets to stretch it's legs and clear all that crap out.
...and the oil might have been changed...last week by the salesman so it LOOKS clean and well maintained.
/end joke (sort of)
I have had people swear up and down that the car had never been hit. I could spot body work from 10 feet away. I had one tell me it had always been garage kept and the body was superior. Yeah right. I found over 40 body plugs from where they had done dentless repair from hail damage and could already spot where the little cracks were starting to appear in the paint. I guess that's why he had it so buffed up when he brought it in.
And credit. Almost all would say they have great credit. Hmmmph. The truth would come out eventually. Lie, lie, lie. There is an old saying in the car business..."buyers are liars".
I like when people complain about the salesman jerking them around on the price. These are the same people that claim to the salesman that they have had an offer of $1000 more dollars on their trade from another dealer and a $1000 less for the same car they wanted to buy from me.
Don't bang on the car salesman. He learned his habits from the public.
