I reckon Loch Lomond Golf Club must be the most breathtakingly beautiful course in the World. Yesterday the weather was mostly overcast but some of the holes, with Loch Lomond as a backdrop are quite stunning. I don't play golf but this is a wonderful day out. Has anyone else ever visited it?

(For the golfers, we are in the last two days and big Phil Mickelson is looking over the shoulders of the leader. I reckon he will do the business today and tomorrow.)

Well big Phil did the business on Saturday but not on Sunday. He blew it at the last minute when he lost to Gregory Havret of France at the first play off hole.

The Loch Lomond weather remained kind to the players throughout the last couple of days. Another super tournament with record crowds of about 85,000 for the four days.

Beautiful scenery, enjoyable tournament. I caught quite a bit of it over the weekend. Glad Phil blew it to be honest. Its nice to see other players win. Looking forward to the open this week. I`ll be routing for Ernie Els.

Perhaps it's because I am not a golfer but I don't understand why the open always has to be on a links course. They look OK but the scenery at Loch Lomond has them all beat and it televises much better.

Incidentally they were very lucky with the weather. It's rained all day here. This could have spoiled it had it arrived yesterday.

...record crowds of about 85,000

I don't know anything about golf or Scotland - what do 85,000 people do while some dudes are walking around hitting balls? Are there bleachers that have monitors setup or is everyone standing around with binoculars around the course? Is it like a fair with all sorts of outhouses and concession stands everywhere?

It's real day out. The Loch Lomond course is very beautiful so it gets you in there and it is worth it for the scenery alone.

They have a tented village with lots of food outlets, shops and a large bar (selling beer at £.10 a pint!)

You can take a picnic with you and find a quiet spot to have lunch and relax.

(Oh and you can also watch the golf) ;)

OK, everyone is drunk - golf spectatin' is starting to make sense to me.

That was my mistake. The beer was actually £3.10 a pint ;)

Wall to wall golf in Scotland right now with the British Open Championship starting tomorrow at Carnoustie. Tiger and the full cast of characters are appearing. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend this one.
