...But recently a team of scientists announced they had made artificial s p e r m from human bone marrow, ...

If a woman chose to do so, speculated tabloid journalists, she could make s p e r m from her own bone marrow, fertilize another woman’s egg — and voila

Ummmm, doesn't the gene pool rule come in here?

I mean that s.p.e.r.m made from your own DNA would effectively be i.n.c.e.s.t, and nature has a way of preventing that - wouldn't be possible after 2 generations. The human gene pool relies on a certain amount of dilution to continue, to prevent genetic defects building up.

Yeah, you would be trying to reproduce yourself. And, let's face it, women generally don't have a difficult time finding a male to provide what they need to have a baby. Getting rid of the guy hasn't been the problem, getting them to stick around has been the issue.

Another example of dumbed down "sensationalist" journalism.

a. Female can't produce Y chromosome. A "sperm" from female will only consist of X chromosomes, therefore they will not be able to reproduce baby boys.

b. as someone already pointed out above, the result will be an exponencial growth of bad genes. Author suggests 2 women making a child to aco#*$! for better genes, but then what's the difference?
