I don't know whether this is good news or bad news?

[news.yahoo.com...]

"While more study is needed on the addictive potential of video games, the AMA remains concerned about the behavioral, health and societal effects of video game and Internet overuse," said Dr. Ronald Davis, AMA's president. "We urge parents to closely monitor children's use of video games and the Internet."

I'm a little torn on this decision. On one side, it is an addiction, I have personally seen kids so lost in the virtual worlds they are out of touch with reality.

On the other hand, if it becomes a formal addiction, it's likely to be treatable by insurance, and it gives people wone more reason to be irresponsible for their actions: "it ain't my fault, it's Sony!"
