Apple iPhone - WooHoo!

Did you get your iPhone today?

I waited in line at Fashion Show Mall in Las Vegas for the Apple Store to open at 6pm to purchase the Apple iPhone. Did anyone else get one of these phones? What is your feedback and thoughts on it?

This has to be one of the coolest phones out there, the technology behind it is hot. This will give the other cell companies something to strive for and compete against with the features and usability.

My favorite feature is the way you enlarge and shrink pictures by pinching the picture. This utilizes Apples patent on multi touch points. :)

Got mine at the Apple Store in Denver. Amazingly easy to setup, just logged into iTunes and it tranfered my current AT&T account and cell phone number in minutes. I especially like the full Safari browser capability with zoom in and zoom out.

ok ok so I waited online today for a "few" hours today and got one. I'm loving it! The one thing I do not like, however, is the belt clip I bought for it. I like how it covers the screen but it's very hard to get out when I get a call.

The phone, however, is very nice and the technology amazing :)

I heard a few negative things about the iPhone. Is it true that you cannot remove the battery, that the Safari browser does not support javascript, and the camera is only 2 megapixel and that when you are not near a Wi-Fi hotspot the speed of the internet connection is only 40 kbps?

But I heard that despite rumours it can indeed be used to make phone calls, so this seems to be a big plus. :)

What are the odds a bug/glitch will be discovered say within a month. Too much hype = big disappointment. Just hope you don't lose it.

I do have to ask though, is it really necessary?

Of course not, but no need to rain on the parade, dude!

I like my Samsung i730 and won't be buying an Apple phone ... but I think some of the technology sounds cool and it will only help the cell phone tech arms race - we'll all benefit, eventually.

I have to admit though the marketing guys at Apple are geniuses.

I'm feeling lucky - I think I'll put some green on the 150-to-1 that an iphone spontaneously combusts!

Ya, most features (and better) are already available on the European and Asian market. It's just the US market that is a tad behind on cell phones.

Rumors have it that a European version is due to be released soon. Maybe even as early as next week.

Most likely it will be using the 3G network, which makes many of the features feasible to use ... as they are way too slow on US networks.

Did not hear of anyone getting trampled but I did read on the BBC that one guy picked his up, left the store then threw it to the ground only to jump up and down on it before leaving!

Perhaps he was suffering from some form of imadness.

Got mine. It's a sweet little device. Blows away every other cell phone I've ever owned (RAZR, SLVR, and a slew of "cheapies").

The Safari browser does support javascript, but it does not support :hover or mouseover events. Also, tabbing from one field to another is... interesting. I tested my sites on it and was pleasantly surprised that everything worked -- even my ajax driven ecommerce pages. (And they worked over the cell network, no wifi at the time.)

No wifi does mean slow internet, a bit faster than dial up, but still mostly usable for many sites.

It is a 2 megapixel camera, so better than most normal cell phones on the US market.

Universal just didn't resign with Apple's iTunes. In case you don't know, it is the world's largest music company.
Oldtimers finally woke up to the fact that CD sales are plummeting, and Apple basically owns online music sales - the only growth industry. They will want a big cut of that now. That alone can send Apple's stock into tailspin. JMHO

Not worried about the music deal. They just didnt lock into a 20 year contract. Like with a cellphone you can change when you want to, but if the service is good and you get what you want you will stick with them :)
