German startup SeeReal has given more details its high-definition 3D holographic video system , which it says could become commonplace thanks to a new approach using known technology. The company says it has overcome the problems of achieving the resolution and processing power required.
A 47in 3D holographic display with a viewing angle of 60 degrees requires a resolution 250,000 times that of high-definition TV (HDTV) and real-time processing at a rate of several hundred petaflops.

It sounds quite exciting - finally, we ditch those horrible cardboard 3D glasses!

I have a feeling that those horrible cardboard glasses will prove to be much more effective than this system. I watched 3D films almost 50 years ago and there was nothing wrong with them.
I visited the EPCOT cente in Florida a few years back and watched "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" and it was amazing. I would be willing to bet that this new system will not be as good.
Perhaps they should have invested in making better 3D glasses?
