Some others have already closed - but some are not closing ... yet.
Yahoo!'s auction busineess model was doomed to failure; they had no listing fees, which guaranteed them loads of rubbish being listed, and buyers getting bored trying to find decent stuff.
The rumour is that they kept going simply for the referrals to other Yahoo! services ... then realised they were just getting a handful of people too tight to spend 20 cents on ebay listings; not an ideal recruiting ground for big spenders ;)
