LONDON (Reuters) - A British man who went on a wild spending spree after doctors said he only had a short time to live wants compensation because the diagnosis was wrong and he is now healthy -- but broke.

Well here is something to think about.....

Since the dawn of man there have been about 7 billion people born... right now there are about 3.something billion people alive.

Someone should tell this guy he shouldn't worry about dieing because so far it has only happened to about half of us.

Demaestro,
Not sure where you're getting your numbers. The current world population is 6.5+ billion. And most estimates for the number of people ever born is 100+ billion. (Google "number of people ever lived" for some good references.)

He could always start smoking. :-)

I see both sides of this one. He was advised to take care of his affairs, his life was ending. So based on their advice, he now has nothing.

Hell yeah I bet he's happy about living. But that has nothing to do with his current financial state, which was a direct result of their sound medical advice.

LIA..... I got them from some fool who recited that to me. I didn't bother to look it up, I just thought it sounded clever and was applicable.

Maybe they were counting from 01 AD to present. Who knows.

Wasn't there a movie from the 70's with a similar story, and I don't think the main character dies in the movie either.

There was one in the early 90's with Tom Hanks, "Joe Versus The Volcano"

Guy's gonna make a fortune off this story. I was thinking Tom Hanks would be perfect for the film role.

Exactly how much did this guy give away? Probably very little.

Things about this story don't make much sense. Hoax?
-----------------------------------------------------
Articles say he spent a lot of money on expensive meals. Most people stop eating when they are in intense fear.

He wanted to spend the last months of his life with his girl friend and kids. Why didn't he give them the money?

Apparently he did a lot of traveling... but not to doctors for more opinions.

He had given away all his clothes (except a burial suit). So what did he wear to all the nice restaurants?

Pancreatic cancer is about the most fatal form. But a few people live 5 years or more.

In America he'd sue the Dr. for malpractice, settle in the upper 6 figures, then hit the talk show circuit.
