I have a website who's owner is getting phishing site warnings from McAfee SiteAdvisor whenever she tries to access it with her browser.
Since she is planning to launch her new site ASAP, she is understandably upset and worried that everyone else is getting these warning messages, too. If her fears are even marginally correct, that won't be good for business.
So far I have tested on 3 different computers... no warnings came up. But she's still getting them. Makes it look like the problem is isolated to her computer. But if she's having a problem... can she really be alone? How many others are getting bogus warnings for perfectly harmless sites?
If you have any insight to share about SiteAdvisor's reliability (or lack thereof), I'd love to hear it.
I had hoped to post a URL for volunteers to test their SiteAdvisor on the site and forward the result to me... but it looks like that would be a violation of the TOS here. So I'll settle for a discussion and advice.
Thanks!
They erroneously and maliciously report my site as being virus infected, since which I lost 60% of traffic and revenue.
When trying to contact them they ignored me, and eventually agreed the site was not virus infected. However, I have heard nothing since.
What a surprise!
Surely no coincidence that many years ago I was an investigator who exposed connections between some AV companies and computer virus distribution?

When I embarked on this project, I wondered if it would eventually result in something much larger... like a class action, possibly?
My theory is if it happens to one, it must be happening to others. The question is how many.
If McAfee is harming legitimate websites with their product, they need to fix it.
I hope others will step forward and speak up.

Yes, only because it came pre-installed on my new PC!
It is horrible...so is their Anti-Spam email filter thingy.
As soon as I get a spare minute (hour) I'm going to uninstall all McAfee products that came pre-installed and re-install my Symantec's products.....they never infringed the way McAfee does!
McAfee products have left a very sour taste in my mouth....don't want them for a second longer than I have to suffer them!
