This is really a laugh. I'm using the bathroom and hear someone banging on my front door ( actually like breaking-in banging ). Needless to say when I get out of the bathroom I go to the front door with the phone ready to dial 911, and there's nobody there... other than a 5' fake Santa sitting in one of my lounge chairs.

I walk out towards the street and see there's a stranger sitting on my neighbors porch, so I call the neighbor to make sure she's okay. I ask her if she had anyone recently bang on her door and she replies with a yes... I then proceed to explain to her what happened to me, and she tells me that their neighbor has dementia, and left the Santa on my porch and that her husband was on his way home and would retrieve it then.

After living here for 4 years... this is a first for me.

I guess we have that to look forward to!

Apparently, my wife and I are the youngest homeowners in our complex by about 15 years. I think there are more walkers than cars around here. :)

Not sure if anyone has dementia, but there are certainly some strange ones... (I guess that's a sign of getting old- you go from having demented friends to having friends with dementia.)

Well the husband just came over to take Santa back... apparently he's a really big attorney, and didn't have time to put Santa away after Christmas, so it sat on their couch in the living room. I'm begining to think the wife just got tired of looking at it and decided to dump it on the newbies :)

Here's a photo (Hope it's okay): [flickr.com...]

I've been in my new home 9 months, and the only people my age that I see on the block are the kids and grandkids coming to visit. It's kind of nice: quiet neighborhood and all the yards are maintained by professional gardeners.

Plus, when I hear a siren my first thought is "What old lady had a stroke" instead of "Who just got shot".

It's sure a sad problem, but they can do and say some funny things. There is a lot of Alzheimers in my family. My grandpa was a sweet man and certainly not at all crass or forward, but the last time I saw him, he looked at me, grinned real big and said: "Lady, I don't know who you are, but did anybody ever tell you you're built like a brick crapping can?"

Hope it's OK that I repeated what he said. Grandma was mortified, but we ALL laughed.

And is it true? (or am I risking life and limb by asking?)
