I keep getting people wanting to "be my friend" on myspace whom I've never met (or at least while sober).
Are these people bored, trying to extort money or just lonely and in need of friends?!

Some of them are probably trying to build some links. The others are just lonely and in need of friends.

I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only person who gets annoyed with them.
YOU'RE NOT MY FRIEND, I DON'T KNOW YOU - ALL MY MYSPACE FRIENDS ARE ACTUALLY MY FRIENDS. YOU KNOW, FROM "REAL LIFE".
I was starting to think that I was the one who was weird for not wanting "virtual" friends. >;->

There are LOTS of marketers who use myspace and software that blasts out friend requests.
You get enough friends, you can then blast out advertisements quite effectively.

Holy CatFish, TravelSite! You see a difference between friend, acquaintance, customer, sucker? I thought Social Media eliminated such discriminatory practices.
If you can't play nice ronin and be imaginary friends with everyone you may just have to stay offline with your real friends.
Of course you could always just replace that pic of the scantily clad nubile female... ;-)
