Remember, you have to tell what it does or find a link that explains what the object does. ;)

What is this?! [i131.photobucket.com]

Good luck!

Lilliabeth, this still doesn't mean you cannot host it on Monday ;) Feel better!

Can I get one in a different color?

I believe it holds by "impaling" the object.

>> Can I get one in a different color?

I'd say the colors are very limited. It might only be different shades of the same color.

Is it used to hold an ear of corn?

Do you hold tiny hand puppets with it? (gets in tenuous link to craft with voodoo dolls being witchcraft...)

Is it used to hold an object or an animal. For example a snake catchers ring?

eelixduppy

6:16 pm on Mar 18, 2007 (gmt 0)

>> ear of corn

No

>> Do you hold tiny hand puppets with it?

No, but "witchcraft" is on the right track.

A pumpkin carver?

eelixduppy

6:17 pm on Mar 18, 2007 (gmt 0)

No, it does not hold an animal ;)

Not for carving pumpkins, either. Remember, it holds something.

Witchcraft...
Holds something...
Made of metal...
Goes on your finger...

Is it a witches marshmallow roasting tool?

Since it has to do with "witchcraft" =>

Is it used to hold a sandwi(t)ch? Or to butter it?

Is it used to dispense tiny amounts of substances?

eelixduppy

>> Does it hold a candle?
No, not a candle, although the shape is relatively correct.

I want to clarify my "witchcraft" statement. It is not related to whichcraft, although some may say that the combination of this device and what it holds may be, indeed, like "witchcraft".

Is it used for some sort of magic trick? The floating ball trick or something? Or floating pencil?

eelixduppy

>> Is it used for some sort of magic trick?

BINGO! Now explain what it could possibly be used for. ;)

>> The floating ball trick or something? Or floating pencil?

Neither

Some sort of rope trick?

eelixduppy

6:34 pm on Mar 18, 2007 (gmt 0)

No rope. Go back and look at the hints of what it holds. There's a few that I've said that narrow it down ;)

A magic trick that involves the ring, and a hazardous object with the shape of a candle, but smaller than a shopping bag.

The exploding magic wand trick.

>> The exploding magic wand trick.

hehe...not that hazardous ;)

It's much smaller than a wand.

Ok but it's burning. Or why would the object be hazardous. The burning handkerchief trick. The dove out of the sleave trick.

Ok, I'm just going to give it to you, jecasc. You stayed in the game and figured out that it was a magic gimmick; great job! :)

It's actually a cigarette production gimmick [google.com] used to hide the cigarette behind your hand and then "produce" it at will.

I had a feeling this was going to be a challenging one, but nothing you folks can't handle. I didn't want to drag it out, though, because I have some things to attend to ;) You got close enough that it counts in my book!

Ah cigarette of course. Only another 1 1/2 half hour and I would have deduced it.

Great gizmo.

See you all then at next weeks gizmo quiz.

Great. Glad you can host it!

Lilliabeth may have another one up her sleeve (hehe) for tomorrow. I guess we'll have to wait to see ;)

Thanks for helping me out, eelixduppy!

I'll just hang onto my gizmo idea.

Here is how it will work out:

Jecasc will host next, I'll win, and then I'll be good to go since I have a gizmo picked out already.

Self-confidence is a good thing.
