Just cost me £70 and I will still have to wait around 2 weeks to receive it.

Daylight robbery if you ask me.

Just try replacing your passport whilst living abroad...

I lost my passport in Paris back in 1999. Made it all the way to Helsinki without it (via train and ship) and got a replacement within 24 hours of visiting the US embassy there. In the post 9/11 world, that would probably be impossible...

Still, two weeks. Maybe try getting it outside of the UK!

Just replaced my expired passport. I am Canadian and the US just changed the rules for Canadians entering the US by air. We now need a passport. Next year you will need it if you drive over the border. Which completely sucks because in the pre-9-11 world we used to go over the border to go shopping or socializing and stuff. Now you only cross the border when you have to. Its killing businesses in border towns.

Anyways, there is a mad rush to get passports. I was in line for 2 hours. I hear of people being in line a lot longer than that, it is insane down at the passport office.

It cost be $90 Canadian... now I dont feel so bad.

I had to renew my British passport a while back, and it cost CAN$130 for ten years. My $90 Canadian one lasts for just five years, so it's a false economy.

My son has triple nationality, so I think we'll go in for some comparison shopping to find the best deal. ;)

A new passport for adults (16 years and older) is $97US and is valid for ten years. For children, $82US and five years. To renew a passport, the fee is $67US.

Well now! I'm surprised, yet pleased, to hear that there's three countries that can get along that well (in this day and age). It sounds/seems that Canada and the U.K. are two of the countries - what's the third? (And the other two, if I'm wrong about those...)
